Dry turmeric rhizome extract standardized to curcuminoids. On its own, curcumin is poorly absorbed. Taking it with a meal that contains fat or with black pepper extract (piperine) improves its bioavailability. Curcumin helps maintain a healthy inflammatory response, especially for joint comfort and post-exercise recovery. It also acts as an antioxidant.
Dosages vary widely based on extract strength and whether absorption enhancers like piperine are included. Most people take it with meals, ideally ones with some fat. Liposomal or phytosome forms offer better absorption without the extra steps.
Turmeric can slow blood clotting. People on anticoagulant medications should talk to their doctor before use. It may irritate the stomach or worsen gallbladder issues in sensitive individuals. If you have iron deficiency, be aware that turmeric can reduce iron absorption.
