Most of the strontium in your body sits in bone and teeth. People take it as a supplement to support bone health and help keep bones dense as they age. The typical form is strontium citrate. Take it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, away from food, dairy, calcium, and antacids. Any of those can block absorption and make the supplement useless.
This supplement is not the same as strontium ranelate, a prescription drug for osteoporosis. Never swap prescribed medication for an over-the-counter product. Check with your doctor before starting, especially if you have kidney problems or any clotting risks.
