N,N-Dimethylglycine HCl (DMG HCl) is a salt form of dimethylglycine, a substance derived from the amino acid glycine. The hydrochloride addition makes it dissolve more easily. People take it hoping to boost cellular energy and mental sharpness, but scientific backing is limited and inconsistent.
Some athletes and students use it for endurance or focus, yet large clinical trials are missing. Most supplements come as capsules or tablets, and taking them with a meal lowers the chance of stomach upset. Mild digestive discomfort can occur. Safety in pregnant or nursing women, as well as children, has not been established. No drug interactions have been documented.
