This alcohol-free extract comes from the aerial parts of horsetail (Equisetum arvense). Glycerin replaces alcohol, making it mild on the stomach and easy to absorb.
People take it primarily for skin, hair, and nail health, since horsetail supplies silica and other minerals. Some turn to it for joint and bone support, though evidence remains limited. Add drops to water or juice as directed.
Horsetail naturally contains thiaminase, an enzyme that breaks down vitamin B1. Long-term or high-dose use may lead to thiamine deficiency. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, because of possible nicotine content. People with kidney disease or those taking diuretics should avoid this product, as it may have a mild diuretic effect.
