D-delta-tocopherol is one of eight vitamin E forms. The body does not hold onto it as tightly as alpha-tocopherol because the liver's transport protein grabs alpha-tocopherol first. Manufacturers add it to mixed tocopherol products to broaden the antioxidant profile.
Take this supplement with a meal that includes fat. Absorption drops sharply on an empty stomach.
Large vitamin E doses, including D-delta-tocopherol, can thin the blood. Skip high amounts if you take warfarin, aspirin, or any other blood thinner, or if you have a bleeding disorder.
