Coleus forskohlii is a tropical plant. Its roots produce a compound called forskolin. Traditional Ayurvedic practice used the herb for heart and lung concerns. Modern evidence for most common uses is still thin and not conclusive.
You can find it as capsules, extracts, and liquid tinctures. Products are usually standardized to a set percentage of forskolin.
Cautions: Coleus can drop blood pressure and raise bleeding risk. Do not combine it with blood pressure drugs or anticoagulants like warfarin and aspirin. Stop taking it before any surgery. Do not use it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
