Coconut water is the clear liquid inside young, green coconuts. It is not the same as coconut milk, which is blended from coconut meat, or coconut oil. The drink contains natural electrolytes, primarily potassium and magnesium.
People reach for coconut water to rehydrate after mild exercise or when feeling under the weather. It carries less sugar than typical sports drinks. A chilled glass works well anytime during the day.
Be careful with coconut water if you have kidney concerns or take certain medications. The potassium level can be high.
