Black pepper fruit extract is a concentrated version of black pepper, usually standardized to the constituent piperine. That compound gives black pepper its sharp taste. People take it mainly to help the body absorb other nutrients and supplements more efficiently.
Most users pair it with curcumin, resveratrol, or fat-soluble vitamins to increase uptake. The extract promotes nutrient absorption in the gut and holds mild antioxidant potential. Typical doses are small, around 5 to 10 mg of piperine, and taking it with a meal works best. Many joint, inflammation, and general wellness formulas include it.
Caution is warranted. Piperine can raise blood levels of some prescription drugs, changing how they work. Anyone using medication should speak with a healthcare provider beforehand. Large doses may upset the stomach.
