Beta-caryophyllene is a sesquiterpene found in black pepper, cannabis, cloves, and other plants. It selectively binds to cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2) in the body’s endocannabinoid system. It does not activate CB1 receptors.
People use it to support joint comfort and mobility, encourage a balanced stress response, and aid digestive health. The supplement appears as concentrated oil or softgels. Absorption improves when you take it with a meal that contains fat.
