Agaricus blazei is a mushroom native to Brazil. It goes by the scientific name Agaricus subrufescens. You can find it as a dried powder, in capsules, or as a liquid extract.
People take it daily with meals, aiming to support normal immune function. Solid human studies are still scarce, so much of what we know comes from traditional use and early-stage research.
Cautions apply. Do not take this mushroom if you use immunosuppressant drugs or diabetes medication without talking to a doctor first. The immune activity could, in theory, aggravate an autoimmune condition. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid it because safety data is missing.
