Acacia fiber, also called gum arabic, comes from the sap of the Acacia senegal tree. This soluble fiber dissolves in water and feeds good bacteria in your gut, helping keep digestion smooth and regular.
People mix it into water or another drink. They start with a small amount and increase the dose gradually. Most take it once or twice daily, with meals or at a regular time.
Gas and bloating are common when you first begin. To avoid reducing absorption of oral medications, take acacia fiber at least one hour before or two hours after them. People with very slow gut motility or a bowel obstruction should be cautious.
